Sacheen Littefeather is an American actress, model, and Native American activist. She is a trailblazer and was the firstwoman of color, and the first indigenous woman, to use the Academy Awards platform to make a political statement.
By her early 20’s she was the head of a local affirmative action committee where she worked as a public service director, successfully campaigned for Stanford University to remove their offensive “Indian” sports team symbol, and even studied representation in film, television, and sports.
